Hello – for Authoring screensavers we don’t support windows XP – our official system requirements can be found here: http://iscreensaver.com/requirements.shtml

We recommend Windows 7, though Vista will work.

Note that the requirements for Using screensavers and for Authoring screensavers are different – logically the screensaver Author needs to have a more powerful system.

As for “float with a background” – can you explain more what you mean?

I understand that the result of using iscreensaver work better if done with Windows 7 or Vista.

I did not expect the GUI to create the settings to require Windows 7 or Vista.

I received a screen saver from http://gpsrcd.nepabsa.org/swag.html

They have images which float around the screen. There is also a wallpaper or background behind the floating images. I would like to create the same thing using different background and images.

Thanks

“They have images which float around the screen. There is also a wallpaper or background behind the floating images. I would like to create the same thing using different background and images.”

iScreensaver 4 has four layers when showing an Image item: From back to front: a background color (solid color), the image (which can move in 3D), then a styled text caption, then an overlay image layer.

It sounds like you want to use an image instead of a solid background color, so this may not work for you. You could try putting the image in the Overlay layer, but then it can’t have any motion. Also, for performance issues we recommend against using large images in the overlay layer, so it may depend on the image size and graphics card you are using.
