[Solved] no quicktime

Hi,

I’m trying to make a windows-only screensaver. My client is not willing to install quicktime, so I made an AVI movie (with Cinepack codec). I unchecked the quicktime and opengl requirements for installing.

So, when installing on a windows pc whithout quicktime, it does indeed not ask foor the quicktimeplugin, but when you try to actually run the screensaver, there’s just a black screen whith yellow text, saying to install the quicktime plugin. How is this possible?

The avi file plays fine on it’s own…

…and the same goes for an mp4 file…

Here’s a screenshot of the error i’m getting: http://i51.tinypic.com/aaj2om.jpg

I repeat: i unchecked all requirements, and it indeed doesn’t check for quicktime, BUT when starting the saver it displays a black screen with yellow text saying i need the quikctime player…

Hello – please refer to http://iscreensaver.com/help/quicktime.shtml which explains how to make a screensaver that doesn’t require QuickTime.

The quick answer is that you can only use Image or Flash content – video format is not allowed unless QuickTime is installed.

Hello

Please answer quick

Yes and no – You can use Flash (SWF) to do video instead of QuickTime, in which case Flash Player will need to be installed on the Windows PC instead of QuickTime.

Please note that iScreensaver Designer 5 has been released which addresses this specific issue.

Please see http://iscreensaver.com/features5.shtml for a list of new features in version 5.0.
